I have designed this site to give some information to parents and to answer some frequently asked questions regarding baby nurses" . A baby nurse is a new born specialist. Most baby nurses are not registered nurses or licensed practical nurses. Rather, they are people with a deep understanding of the developmental and physical stages of newborns. Most have taken courses to stay current with the latest newborn philosophies. Some have even completed special programs to enhance their skills and comfort level.

Baby Nurses will take special care of your newborn. They will help teach the parents how to care for their infant including bathing, feeding, diapering, dressing, laundry and maintenance of the baby’s room. They will help get the baby on a schedule, which will help the parents sleeping pattern once the baby nurse leaves.

Baby nurses usually work 24 hours at a daily rate of :

$200-250.00 for one child

$250-350.00 for twins

$400-500.00 for triplets

The time a baby nurse stays with a family is usually between 1-6 months, but is negotiable depending upon the needs of the family.

Interviewing a baby nurse can be as simple as having a phone conversation, a physical interview and/or both. Some families believe it is also appropriate to have the baby nurse meet with the mother’s doctors along with the pediatrician. Some baby nurses go to the hospital and bring the "family" home, or just meet the parents at their home after the hospital.

The time you spend with the baby nurse should be pleasant and gratifying. Because the family and the baby nurse will spend many hours together, I encourage meeting and interviewing candidates to make sure their skills and personality is the right fit for you and your family. Remember, most importantly, Check References.
